  1. no. not at all.

rafa may be a winner, but he isnt the champion federer is.

  2. no federer is the best he doesn't let it go to his head...i think with nadal it will go to his head

  3. no way fed is the first his chance this time wasn't too good but he'll bounce back and to the top again

  4. no

  5. No, because he is very busy with his itching "backyard" hahaha

  6. i think he can. he's younger and he's been recently losing to him

  7. yes he can because he has gotten better and he has taken 2 championships over federer like the wilmbiton. he has won the french and hes going for more.

  8. Yes he can! :D

  9. No , I just don't see him being as dominating...

  10. Slim chance of that probability.

  11. Absolutely! Rafa just keeps getting better and at 22 he already has 5 slams on two surfaces. Next I'm sure he will target the hard courts and I have no doubt he will complete a career grand slam if not a calendar grand slam. I look forward to seeing all the amazing tennis he is sure to show us. Vamos Rafa!!!!!!!!

  12. Greatest of all time is a pretty lofty title to achieve.

At this point in time, he may be on track, but who knows what's going to happen.

It will be decided by a number of factors:

Will there be new challengers emerging to give the top players a run for their money?

Will he stay healthy and injury free?

Will he continue to improve his game, especially on the hard courts?

Undoubtedly Nadal is one of the best clay court players ever, but he's still needs to be more dominant on the hard courts to even be considered as "the greatest of all time".

There's a long way to go.

  13. Yeah I think he can :-)

He's still only 22 with 4 French Opens and one Wimbledon title under his belt and was the only man for a long time to win the French Open on his first attempt =)

He has all the characteristics of an amazing player and a great champion!

Rafa will win all 4 grandslams one day and he totally deserves to be the next #1 :)

    Vamos Rafa xx

  14. Federer is not the greatest of all time yet.

And Federer has not yet retired. History has shown that Nadal is really more dominant on clay, which is just one surface. With his recent showing on grass, one might say he make grass his surface too. With the time of rise his balls makes on grass now, I won't doubt he will rival or maybe eclipse Federer on that surface too. We will see next year what happens.

This year's hardcourt season would let us know Nadal's true greatness on all srufaces as Federer has shown over the years. Federer is the 2nd best clay courter on tour, and I still won't place Nadal as the best grass courter, that match was tight. The hard courts would be the judge.

  15. Nadal has put himself in a great position to surpass Federer. He has two things working on his side: time and a dominating head to head against Federer.

At 22 he already has 5 slams-that's more than any male player that I can think of at that age. He's beaten Federer on all surfaces including that Hybrid surface they played that exhibition on http://www.sports-venue.info/Tennis/Hybr...

In discussions about the greatest of all time, if he should come close to Federer's slam total, his head to head record would give him a significant advantage over Federer (kinda like Sampras has over Agassi).

Nadal has quietly been getting better while everyone's been focusing on Federer. He has the two toughest slams out of the way by winning the French and Wimbledon. He's been to the semis of the Australian Open and he's beaten Tsonga and Blake (couple of guys who's beaten him on hardcourts) at Indian Wells this year. I don't think this is one of those years where he will disappear after Wimbledon.

I think things should get easier for him now that news of his improvement has hit the locker room. The other guys will be a lot more intimidated and he can win more matches with his last name kinda like Federer's been doing for some time.

Personally, I don't think Federer is the greatest of all time but I do think Nadal has a good shot to be greater than Federer in a statistical sense.

  16. Nadal still have a long way to go if he want to surpass Federer to become the greatest.  Federer won 7 grand slams more than Nadal and is already a four-time year end world no.1 which Nadal never did.  Federer has good results in all surfaces.  Nadal need to show that he is an all surface player especially on hardcourt.  Federer had reached his weakest surfaces grand slam final 3 times.  Nadal best hardcourt grand slam result has been semifinal of the Australian Open this year. But Nadal has time on his side as he's only 22 with already 5 grand slams title in hand.  The only things worries me is his game style.  His powerful game style had frequently injured him and might shorten his career.  Federer skillful type of game style might earn him a long career just like Agassi.  Anyway, anything is possible in sports.  Time will tell whether Nadal can become the greatest.

  17. Only time will tell... :-) but consider what Federer has been accomplished so far... 5 Wimbledon, 4 US Open, 3 Australian Open... 4 years and counting as Number 1 player in the world... Do you think Nadal would be able to surpass that? Of course everything is possible... Nadal is young, only 22... but remember, Federer was number 1 before he was 22... and he is still number 1 now, without any injuries... just mono early this year... but no physical injuries... for 4 years... and I believe he could stay a lot longer than any other player... It means that he still has a lot more Slams to win... Injuries are the main reason that keep all the players to stay on top... and looks like Nadal has to watch over his knee... which might keep him from playing tennis someday... But like I said... "Only time will tell"

  18. Yeah ofcourse he can :) ! Theres no reason we he wont, he`s improving his game all the time and he is still only 22. Look what he`s achieved just remarkable, winning the french, queens and wimbledon he is just AMAZING ! I love him and think he definitely deserves to be the next #1 !!! :)

Sean your completely right :) !!!

  19. Yes I think he can! He has been improving day by day and has even shown it in the Wimbledon Open, a court considered to be tailor-made for Federer.

However I think Nadal still has many follies in his game which he needs to overcome to achieve the best player's tag.

First he should keep his winning ways intact till the end of 2009 and win almost every series he plays by then, a feat which Federer achieved before he achieved the 'invincible' tag in 2004! He should pocket many Grand Slams by 2009-end.

Next, he should not become complacent and begin to take Federer lightly. He must always remember that Federer is technically more correct than Rafa, currently. He loses to Nadal only because he's been severely demoralized by a string of losses on clay courts- Nadal's fav.(Nadal & Federer hav met max times on clay courts, a bonus for Nadal!) and also that he;s been constantly deprived of the Roland Gaross to complete a career grand slam. That's why Federer plays Nadal over-cautiously. I'm not saying that Nadal is a bad player. But he's a lot to learn from players like Federer and must expect a tough clash from him, not a walk-over!

Furthermore, Nadal must win consistently on all courtsover the next few yrs., not just clay.

Also, then he must aim for a career grand slam- all the 4 grand slam titles.

Finally his aim must be to bag the max. titles and also break the record of Pete Samprass(or probably Federer, by then) of having won the max. grand slams.

These points, when achieved by Nadal will undoubtedly make him the greatest tennis player of all-time! And I'm sure he can do it in the time to come.

But then Federer won't be an easy bet for him...

  20. I've been a long-time fan of Federer and recently with his losses to Nadal in French Open, then Wimbledon, I felt so sad. Nadal is still young and he is a good player, so he still has a big chance to pass Federer.

  21. No, co'z Nadal just got lucky winning the Wimbledon. Federer already won 5 in Wimbledon and a couple in US Open, Australian. Its hard to win alot of tournaments with all the great players around you. Nadal will only win 1 more Wimbledon and 1 US Open.

  22. the greatest of all time? I think it's extremely difficult and i'm a super fan of Rafa Nadal ( i'm from Spain too) and I enjoyed a lot those matches vs Federer...but who knows? everything is possible if we talk about this amazing players

    byeee!
