Can Naturopathic Doctors prescribe Armour Thyroid Medication....?

  1. depends on the state and the prescribing laws (varies state to state), regular physicians can prescribe it but many dont like 1st line because levels tend to not be as consistant as they are with regular synthroid since armour isnt standardized as well


  2. An Naturopath is not a doctor, not a MD. They cannot prescribe any prescription drugs Period.

  4. It depend son the state.  If your state doesn't allow them to, then perhaps you could find a D.O. that will. They are more open than M.D.'s as they treat the body as a whole where M.D.'s often just look at the condition and labs.  You might also find a frindly Armour doctor by asking the pharmacist to give you names of doctors who write prescriptions for Armour.

    As far as what one poster said about consistency, Armour is just as consistent as the T4 meds. In fact, the T4 meds have been recalled more for potency problems. It's just a myth probably passed on by drug reps for T4 meds.
