  1. My friend, it depends. You will have a tough adjustment for the first few months, but after a while you'll get adjusted to the fast pace of this city.

    Good luck

  2. absolutely it can be---8 million poeple passing you by everyday and you dont know a single one of them--i found it easier to meet people in smaller cvities where you have a chance of bumping into people are more than one occasion--no one will stop you on a street in nyc and say "hey lets be friends"

  3. My house full of people can be lonely!!!  Of course NY can be lonely.

  4. There's an old saying: "Where ever you go, there you are". If you're lonely where you are, you'll be lonely.

  5. That's a hard question to answer.

Yes, you do have to make an effort here, to meet people and make friends. But there are lots of opportunities to do so.

Join a musical group. Volunteer for a worthy cause. Go to church or synogogue. Join a book group.

There are endless ways to meet people here, as there are a lot of public places in the City where people get together.

But you do have to make an effort. People will not just come to you.

Oh, and one other thing - get to know your neighbors. Most New Yorkers DON'T do this too well, but I always have, even if they were decades older than me. And it has ALWAYS been worth my while!

  6. It can be, but there is a ton of activities here.  Take part in some and you can broaden your network of friends.  There are lectures and walking tours where you night find people with a shared interest.  Get out there, we have eight million people and potential friends here,  More if you want to count New Jersey.
