Question:

Can Norton Antivirus detect Trojan virus?

Story is, my cousin gave me a CD with Counter Strike, and Adobe Photoshop. I put the cd into my new laptop, just to make sure everything is there, I did not open or download anything from it. I put the cd in to my PC, and it says it has the Trojan virus. I figure both my pc and laptop are screwed. Does my laptop have the virus, if nothin was downloaded from the cd, and if it does, can my 2008 Norton Antivirus detect it, and remove it?

  1. You computers are not "screwed". Update Norton Database > restart computer > just before Windows starts press F8 key > choose Safe Mode > when Windows finished Loading > scan computer with Norton and follow instructions.

I would also reccommend that when Norton expires you uninstall it from your computer. It really slows your computer down and doesn't work all that well.

Download and install AVG or Avast Antivirus and Spyware Terminator from cnet.com.

  2. Download and Scanner you computer used this Anti-Virus Avg Free To Remove Trojan virus go to this website then download here http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-F...

  3. It can detect it but you will probley have to go into best buy or somewhere to get it fixed/looked at.

  4. it sais it can but ive never seen it. I would suggest you download spybot (wich is free) because it seems to actually work better.

  5. Go to http://www.spywareremover-download.com

    Download Spywareremover

  6. that depends on the Virus, actually.

My advice to you would be to stop using Norton..

    The best combination is:

    Kaspersky

    Spybot

    SUPERAntiSpyware

and that (with common sense, of course) will be plenty to protect your computer.

The virus wouldn't have been uploaded into your computer, unless you downloaded it. If you have AutoRun, then you could have downloaded it unaware. Norton should be able to find the Trojan(It might be a mistake) and purge it from your computer.

  7. I guess that is the price of p****y! Rather that be a criminal, why not purchase Counter Strike and Adobe Photoshop?

  8. it can but if you do something bad it can happen
