  2. YES. it can upscale to 1080p but it obviously wont be as good as blu ray.

  3. no mate it cant do that with DVDs because they are not capable of running in 1080p and if they can it wont look as good as bluray. and what i did is i just hoked the HDMI up to my TV and just had the image in HDMI and i just used the standard red and white cables for my surround sound. all you have to do is select that you wanna use HDMI for image in the settings and in the sound settings you just want to use the standard red and white.

  4. No, the PS3 does 720p/1080i upscaling.

    You can connect your PS3 to your surround sound using HDMI or a TOSLink cable.  The red/white cables won't give you true 5.1
