Can Pakistan Bat through in the ODI’s?
Finally, the Pakistan versus http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 this week, but those who were hoping for some sort of re-emergence of Pakistan cricket, were left in utter disappointment.
The case in point was yet again the Pakistani batting. It seems quite odd that Pakistan has always been the weakest with the bat, and every management vows to eradicate this problem from the team, but still everyone has failed
to do so. It has been almost two decades now and the script is the same. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 flops miserably with the bat, and then the captain and coach come up with a statement that Pakistan cricket is under the never ending reconstruction phase. One can only wonder
if this gigantic reconstruction phase is ever going to finish.
No one, so far, has been able to pinpoint where the fault lies in the batting of a team that is considered as “unpredictable” in the world of cricket. The Pakistan cricket board has hired so many coaches that one has lost count,
but the story is the same, a depleting batting line-up unable to put enough runs on the board for the bowlers to defend.
It really doesn’t matter who the coach is, the Pakistani lads will not bat no matter how good the coach is at his job; from local coaches to the foreign ones, all have been tried and have failed to convince the men in green to
bat.
In the 90’s, the excuse was simply that boys from the sub-continent just cannot bat on bouncy pitches anywhere in the world, but looking at the recent records one wonders where can the boys in green bat? Even on dead pitches, the
Pakistani boys refuse to bat or stay on the wicket; this is probably one problem that no one can figure out.
The batting debacle put on display by the Pakistan batsmen in both the inaugural T20 matches just proved the point that now Pakistani batsmen cannot even bat on the pitches which were once considered heaven for them away from home.
The inclusion of Younis Khan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 was purely meant to strengthen the batting line-up, and since Misbah has had the opportunity to bat in both the T20 matches, it was quite clear that even he was finding it hard to
middle the ball. This leads everyone to focus on how Younis Khan will do now in the One-Day Internationals against the same team, South Africa, on the same pitches.
But, then again, how much difference can one man make? If the rest of the team chooses not to bat, how can one particular batsman be held accountable. Misbah-ul-Haq and former captain Younis http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 can get away by saying that no
one could bat on those pitches so how can they be expected to perform.
At present, it will be fruitless to hire someone to teach the players in the national squad how to bat. After all, no one can go out there and bat for the players except the players themselves and this realization seems to be lacking
in the Pakistani players, who have been selected to represent their country on the basis of their skills and talent and not how good they look on the camera.
Right now, it seems that the bowlers are doing more than what they were signed for. They are bowling, batting and then even the most commendable fielding is also done by the guys who are the bowlers.
To beat the top teams of the world you need to play as a cohesive unit, which right now in seems a distant probability. The captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-c77587 Khan need to pull their act together
before the bowlers even forget how to bowl on bowler friendly pitches.
