My current computer may not be fast enough for high definition decoding. Can Panasonic HDC-SD9 record standard definition for short term use?

I may get a good computer in two months.

  1. unfortunately not, but you can try changing the recording mode to HE, which will drop the bit-rate somewhat to allow more recording time.

Also, if you received HD Writer software w/ the camera, it should allow you to re-encode in MPEG2 for burning to a DVD.  Usually, simply re-encoding to MPEG2 will not drop the bit-rate, but DVDs have problems playing (most of the time) over 9Mb/s - so I assume it should automatically drop it to about 8 or 9 if not less.
