Can Paypal still use my account info?

A few moths ago i closed my paypal account.Just before i clicked the close it said the usual stuff "your account cannot be reactivated and everything will be deleted"blah blah blah.However today i got a letter through the post saying i owe them money.Shouldn't they have deleted all my details when i closed my account and therefor not be able to contact me because they shouldn't have my address.

  1. they would still have a record of your account information.

    However, I would be more concerned that this is a "phishing" scam. Do not respond, instead contact paypal directly and ask if it came from them. This is their phone number (888)-221-1161.

    The way that paypal is set up, you shouldn't owe any money.

  2. How would you owe PayPal money?  They only take their fees off payments you receive.  Are you maybe confusing eBay and PayPal?
