Question:

Can Pelco and Red Ear Slider live TOGETHER?

I HAVE 3 RED EAR SLIDERS, ONE ABOUT 3 INCHES,

AND ANOTHER ONE ABOUT 4 INCHES AND THE

BIGGEST ONE IS ABOUT 6 INCHES...

THEY ARE VERY (FILTY) DIRTY GANG...

I WANT TO PUT A (PELCO? = JANITOR FISH) WITH THEM...

CAN THEY CO-EXIST = LIVE TOGETHER?

OR WILL THE TURTLE EAT THE PELCO FISH?

  1. Hi

    Yes u can but u got to keep the tank clean I mean by cleaning it every week. I got my turtle and pleco together my turtle is about 8" and pleco is about 8 “as well. At start I thought I would have to take him out because the turtle was going to it and bumping in to it. (Lol). But in the end after a week or 2 it was fine. But just keep a close eye on it for the 1st week or 2.

    Owner of:

    1 bearded dragon

    1 hieroglyphic turtle

    1 red claw crayfish

    2 buggies

    1 dog

    1 cat


  2. i would NOT do that, my sliders ate ALL my fish big and small fish

The turtles may try to eat the pleco!  It is so important with turtles to keep them very very clean.  This means strong filters and a way to change the water frequently.  Remember, filters do not remove ammonia waste.  Dirty water is the biggest cause of health problems and illness in turtles!!
