I only see petrol with an orange almost reddish colour. Can it be given a different colour like black. Staining petrol will help it to be traced easily and will make identification easy.

  1. no! thats the color it gives once its cleaned and filtered!

  2. yayayay

  3. Diesel is blue for road tax identification

  4. Yes it can, at a price - it is simply a case using an additive.

But do we not pay enough for the stuff without having it come in pretty colours?

  5. Petrol can be dyed any color that they want it to be. However, the accepted practice here in Canada is purple or red to denote Farm Vehicle, machinery such as reefers or Off Road use which is the only application allowed by law. The reason is that this dyed diesel is cheaper and less taxed than on road use diesel which is clear. If you need an example, go to any Flying J Truck Stop or Husky and check out the locale around a dyed diesel fueling station and you will see the Red Dye quite visibly (Drivers never get 100% into their fuel tanks as reefers sometimes cause splash back because the tanks are awkward to fuel and you cannot see them as you can see the regular truck fueling) Hope this helps.

  6. Yes.

In Canada gas for "Farm Use Only" is dyed purple.
