Question:

Can Photoshop CS2 be used to make a web page?

I have Photoshop CS2 but I'm not aware of all the features it has. I would like to do a family web page with it. Right now, I basically just use it to touch up pics, (which I know is a OVERKILL with this professional program). I have no idea exactly what it can do. I am wondering if someone can (in a nut shell) quickly tell me what this program can do and, or advise me where I can learn about it.

Thanks

  1. Here's how I use PS for web pages: create the web page as big as you need it to be. Add your photos buttons, ect. Then use the slice tool. Anywhere where you would want something to be a button, or be a text box where you could update rather quickly, make a sqaure around it. PS will automatically slice everything else around it. Save for a web page.

Then you'll need something like Dreamweaver. Import it, and do what you want with it from there. You can center it, change the background. This is where you associate the buttons with the pages you want the buttons to link to.

It's very difficult to explain over the net, you may be able to play around with it and figure it out like I did, or use the Help features installed in the programs. Search for some useful faq's online as well. Hope this helps and good luck.

  2. You can not "make" a website on Photoshop CS2, but you can certainly design one. Adobe Photoshop programs are for editing photos (etc.) If you wanted a program to help you create a website then you need Adobe Dreamweaver (CS3)! The two programs are linked so once you are done designing the website in Photoshop it can be transferred over to Dreamweaver for the coding process.

If dreamweaver doesn't work out, there's also Adobe ImageReady. I usually use Dreamweaver, so I'm not really familiar with it. But it can also be used to aid you with making a website.

  3. No. You can make graphics for a web page, but not the web page itself.
