Can Russian Tortoise's eat watermelon rinds?

I feed my tortoise's lots of fresh greens and vegetables, but never fruit because I read its bad for them. What about the rinds of a watermelon? Carrots also, can they eat carrots?

  1. they can but they prefer the flesh better, they can eat carrots and it is best if you grate them, your right feeding fruit to Russians is bad but as an occasional treat they love it, i feed my tortoises a fruit salad of melon, strawberries, grapes, apple pear, sometimes blackberries  once a month, as a treat it is not bad but it can not be fed as part of their staple diet.


  2. Actually, they can eat watermelon rinds, strawberries, apples and catalope.  Just not in excess.  I give it to mine as a treat every so often.

  3. carrots are good so is the flesh of the watermelon and try some cantaloupe
