  1. If it were any place else but Wimbledon, I'd say yes, but this is worst surface.  That said, he played great today, and he's definitely one of the most talented players, and someone who has beaten Federer in a slam, so you never know.  I hope he can though.

  2. Grass has never been his preferred surface and age is becoming a factor as well. Maybe if it was the US Open or the Australian Open, he probably could have made a deep run in the tournament, but I don't see his win over Djokovic as the beginning of a turnaround in his a career. It's a proven fact that sometimes in his matches, Marat does not only have to beat his opponent but have to beat himself as well, in order to win the match. So you never know which Marat, will show up when you have to play him. I really don't see him making the Quarters here at Wimbledon, despite this great win he had today over Djokovic.

  3. No chance he can't string enough matches like that together to do it. He may go another round or two but that'll be all the Comrade Wrote.

  4. I wasn't able to watch the match here in Australia and I have just woken up and logged on to hear the news.  My jaw is still on the floor!  I can't believe there was no mention of this on the radio news on the way to work either.. They were too busy talking about Lleyton!

This is tricky for me because i am Serbian and a Djokovic fan, but Safin is my all time favourite player.  At the very least I hope this win gives him back his confidence and belief that he is an awesome talent and he can achieve.  Kudos to Safin!!

  5. possibly if we were at the US open or down under, but no way could he ever do it at wimbeldon or the french even if fed and nadal were not in the tournament. open up a dictionary, look up inconsistent, there is where ull find Marat Safin. He does not have the mental toughness to become a top player year in and year out. When he is on, he plays like number 1, but when is off he looks like a mediocre player from the B18 division haha

  6. Bag of tricks? Safin no longer has a bag of tricks. He used to have one, but now it has holes. So he tries to pull out a rabbit only to realize his rabbit fell through one of hte holes. He's a washed up has been. He had to play the match of his life to get past the first round of Wimbledon.

  7. i wnt 2 see him break some rackets =] !!!!!!!!

  8. He might have beat #3, but I don't think he will be able to go all the way up to beat Federer.
