Can Scoliosis cause chest pain?

I am a cheerleader, its my senior year. Ive been cheering since i was 6. Just a few months ago i was diagnosed with a mild case of scoliosis. I thought it would be no big deal. Well i just started my cheer season and i have been having chest pains when i take big breathes. when i tumble the pains unbearable! can scoliosis be related, im scared to go to the doctors because i know they'll tell me i cant cheer! :(

  1. If your case is really mild, it should not be causing these symptoms, but severe scoliosis can cause these symptoms.  You should go see a doctor.  he might not tell you to stop.  Explain that it is important to you.  They will probably do some x-ray tests and a physical exam to determine if the scoliosis is the cause.  I may be just anxiety.  Go see a doctor, you may be worried needlessly.


  2. Yes, sometimes back and neck problems may cause chest pains. However I feel it's best you talk to your doctor about this. At least he'll give you the correct advice and proper medication and hopefully you'll be able to cheer with no pain. Good luck!

    pericarditis -  one of the symptoms is chest pain on deep breaths.  look at the symptoms there see if it matches you
