Can Scott Jamieson register his second consecutive win?
The Scottish Golf Professional, Scott Jamieson made a name for himself after he won the Nelson Mandela Championship.
During the tournament, he exhibited one of the best rounds of golf that he has played in his entire career. Now, Jamieson is also participating in the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
He must have been a confident man coming in to the tournament. However, that was not visible when the results for the first day came out.
Jamieson recorded average results. The scores were not high enough to put him in the same ground as the top players.
Although he made four birdies on the 1st, 4th, 15th and the 18th hole but it was an inconsistent demonstration of golf. The Scottish golfer bogeyed twice, once on the 7th hole and the other on the 13th.
It was not easy picking for any of the golfers on the course as the field line-up is extremely challenging. To be on the top of the leaderboard requires extraordinary play of precision.
There is no doubt that Jamieson deserved the victory in Durban. However, to fancy his chances for the trophy on the Leopard Creek Golf Club course will require something a little more special.
Needless to mention, there are other zealous players waiting to get their hands on the trophy through a resilient play.
The Leopard Creek Golf Club boasts of a fantastic golf environment both for the golfers and the fans.
While the top players battle it out on the beautiful fairways of the Leopard Creek, fans can be seen enjoying the scenic splendor of the place.
The club is one of its kinds. It gives the players a unique experience. To be so close to nature and to play golf at the same time has its own thrill.
The caddies are not only told to perform their normal duties, in addition to that, they are advised to keep a lookout for wild boars, in case they charge towards the players.
With such a beautiful setup of golf in the region, the tournament was bound to attract top golfers on the tour.
For the Scottish golfer to have any chances of coming on to the same level of the other players, he will have to improve his performance drastically in the next rounds.
In case he fails to do so, the top players on the leaderboard will extend their lead to an extent where it will not be possible for Jamieson to make up for the loss.
The results after day one showed that the Frenchman, Gregory Bourdy led the tournament by one stroke. Six players trailed him by one shot in the 6th place.
The competition has been so tight that numerous players could be seen sharing the same position. Therefore, in order for Jamieson to get the trophy, he will have to deliver the goods in the coming rounds.
