Question:

Can Someone Explain Why The Tigers Traded Pudge Rodriguez?

I am a Tigers fan and I'm shocked because this came out of nowhere. I understand we needed a bullpen pitcher and we have a good catcher in Inge, but why did we only get Farnsworth in return? We traded away a 13 time Gold Glove All Star catcher for a relief pitcher who is decent at best. When the Tigers had Farnsworth a few years ago he had better stats than he does now. Can someone please explain this to me.

  1. the bullpen was more of an issue. it was a move in the right direction, but i don't know if farnsworth is the right guy. pudge was doing good after he got hot, but he's a streaky hitter. inge is almost as capable defensively but nowhere near offensively, aside from power.

  2. he's a has-been don't worry

  3. horrible for tigers fans but great for yankee fans. feel bad for you.

  4. yh it great but i feel sad for the tigers fans

  5. I feel the pain.  I am a lifelong, diehard Tigers fan and loved Pudge.  On the other hand I can see why the decision was made.  Pudge was a free agent at the end of the year, he realistically would be gone when the season was over.  The team has pretty much said that they were going in the direction of Inge for our starting catcher next year anyway.  We needed a relief pitcher and New York had one to spare, they needed a catcher and we had a highly paid older catcher (although very loved) who was likely on his way out at the end of the season anyway.  It really is a win win for everyone, even if a bitter pill to swallow.

  6. his time looks to be up and farnsworth looks to take the closer's role

  7. Find out on....

    2. http://yankeestadium.com

  8. I don't know why they traded Pudge, for he was one of the best players on the team. Farnsworth is not the best solution for the Tigers' bullpen problems.

  9. They should've gotten a young pitching prospect. The Tigers getting Farnsworth on the other end of the deal was a terrible decision. Dombrowski should be counting the days until he's gone now.

  10. they had a lot bigger needs in the bullpen

  11. THEY SAVED 2.4 MILLION DOLLARS
