  2. If u have contacted a radio channel, then u have to think about yourself only when u r on air.

  4. You really won't get far if you're not funny, let alone interesting. You need somewhat of a signature style to bring to the radio what many haven't brought to it before; you don't want to be talking about the same thing everyone else on radio is and you probably don't want to follow their same conventions either. Be broad in all the right areas e.g. don't be open and vacant to EVERYTHING, have your own opinions and stick to them at that ... because all you really need to do is justify your position, I mean people these days don't, necessarily want to hear you work per say, they want to hear a real human being thinking for themselves. BE very well informed ... everyone will expect you to be ignorant of many things because you are 16 - read ... A LOT.

... and to be honest a "Radio Jockey" is a disk jockey, someone who plays music on the radio and if THAT was what you wanted to do then DON'T talk. Keep it to a bare minimum and make sure you don't sound like those DJ's ... you know what I mean, the ones that talk in that weird voice.

  5. Improve on your talking skills. Practice reading stuff out loud. Make sure you can annunciate your words. Be very upbeat and personable. Choose topics to fit your audience.

  6. public radio is all about the listener. nobody wants to tune into hear you talking about yourself, or talking too much in general. play music, talk about things that are interesting to most of the listening demographic, and keep it short. people tune to the radio to hear music (unless of course they're listening to talk radio).

  7. Hay,

I just visited this Radio Mirchi site... It has a career page which explains a lot of things about being RJ. I found it informative, thought I could share it.
