Ok, so I've watched dozens of how to do a backbend videos on Youtube. But I just can't get it! I can't bend all the way back and I have no idea why. I think I just get scared or something. But I've been trying for days. I can go into a backbend when my hands are on a wall and come back up and I can do a bridge. Why can't I get this? I'm getting sooo frustrated! Please help!

  1. Hey...I would suggest stretching your back first. Do some bridges. I've helped my friend learn how to do a backbend by spotting her. Ask someone to out their hands underneath your back and as you go down you will feel more stable and confident. It really helps. Hope this works for you!

  2. Try having someone hold your back to help you for a couple of thmes, and have them give you a lighter and lighter spot until you can do it! =D

  3. I had the same prblem but i got it. The key is to first streach, streach and streach. What u do is watch your fingertips the whole time that ur going into ur backbend. Try it on pillows or something soft before u go on the grond. Hope i helped.

  4. Hey I am a level 10 Gymnast and I coach gymnastics as well. I think that I can help you!

First push up to a bridge and stretch your shoulders and back out before you start!

If you can, Like you said you were trying: Try standing a few feet from a wall. The put your arms by your ears and lean back and put your hands on the wall. Slowly walk your hands down the wall until you get to the floor! When you start to be able to do that more easily start farther and farther away from the wall!  When you get that really good, get a few pillows od something (like a couch) and stand i front of it and try bending back to that! Remember practice makes perfect, you got to keep trying.

You can also have someone try to spot you if they know how or go to a gymnastics place. Depending on how old you are!

    I hope that this helps

  5. try stretching your back out alot by doing bridges and  then try putting a pillow on the ground and go onto that so that you arent as scared and make sure to always look at you hands

also dont bend your legs alot try a wider stance when going back

    when you do go back!

    hope this helps!
