My husband is diabetic. Does anyone know what precautions the cruiseline will make for him? Where would he store his insulin? Will they give him specialized meals if need be? Anyone have any experience with this? I am not sure if I am adking the right questions, but can someone please fill me in on any details I may have missed? Thank you.

  1. It depends on the cruise line.

If you are looking at a major cruise line like Princess, Royal Caribbean, or Celebrity, food is the least of the problems.    For every meal it is possible to eat at a buffet and your husband can easily pick and choose what is right for him.

In the dining room, you can make specific requests.    It's easy, for instance, to tell them to leave a sauce or gravy off a piece of chicken or meat.     Also easy to get a vegetable plate.

As for the meds, some cruise lines have small refrigerators in the cabins.    If not, the insulin could be stored in the onboard hospital.

Your best bet is work with an experienced travel agent who can get your the answers you need for whatever cruise line you are considering.
