  1. Put more gas in your tank, that always helps me go further.

  2. Hmmm... Driving it further and straighter, what a concept but in fact majority of the golfers try to swing the club as fast a they can to rip one out there.... WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!

I've been training to make it out on tour for the past 4 years and I'll tell you what "Those guys are good, I mean really good" Core strength! abs and back muscle is one of the most critical thing you need to hit is further. second loosen your swing, what I mean by that is, don't white knuckle it, the death grip. Walter M said it right swing easy and the wrist generate the club head speed which empowers your ball speed hence longer drives.

I have a training aide that I revisit every now and then to reassure that I am maximizing my wrist action, its called swinggyde by Jim Flick. Its a great training aide. Try it out. it does work and your not only hit your Drives further but your iron longer and more accurately.

    Good Luck

  3. You could have a couple of lessons from your local club professional. And keep up the practice.

  4. Spread your stance about 6" wider and try snapping your front knee at impact.

  5. If you're not already, strengh train regularly in the gym.  Do a lot of pulling excersises that involve both the back and stomach muscles.  Cable cruches, lat extensions, etc.  One I like is standing next to a high cable pully using a triceps rope -- reach up and grab the rope and pull down extending to your opposite side.  A Total Gym, like advertised on the golf channel, would work real well too.

Also, in the swing, your power comes from you core, not your arms.  Swing smooth and whip through the ball using your hips.

Don't pay much attention to those who start spouting that drive for show c**p.  Putting is what wins tournaments, but the fewer strokes it takes to get to the green the lower your score will be.  Let the short hitters go after the birdies on the par 5's from the ladies tees . . . we will go for eagles from the tips.
