Can Someone who is in the Country Illegaly Sell/do Quote for an Insurance Company?

in other words, Can you Sell insurance with out a license? or do quotes for an Agent in another Language, or does the quote have to be done and interpreted by the Actual Agent?

  1. No, you cannot sell insurance without a license.  You can translate, but the agent has to be right there.  

    QUOTES can be done by anyone.  

    The actual guidelines vary by state, but normally you have to have a license to give advice about limits, explain coverages, take money, or sign applications.


  2. It seems that you are asking if an unlicensed customer service representative can present an insurance quotation. Most states will allow this if there is a licensed agent on the premises. However the customer service representative cannot legally bind the company, only a licensed agent can do that.

  3. In California you can not quote or bind or sell insurance unless you are a licensed insurance agent.   Someone maybe able to translate but that is it.  I believe that most states are like California.   You have to have a license even for a quote.
