  1. yes u would go to jail for drinking at night and yeah a 17 yr old can go to jail

  2. Yes, especially if you're underage.  Generally alcohol is not permitted on school property at anytime, even when school is not in session.

Furthermore, if there were no school-sanctioned events going on at the school at the time, you could be in trouble for tresspassing on private property, as well as public intoxication and underage drinking.

If you insist on engaging in underage drinking, do it in the safety of a home where your chances of being caught are less likely.

  3. At the very least you are trespassing, along with potential public intoxication.  If you made a lot of noise and someone had complained then its disturbing the peace...and on and on.

  4. You are 17 so you shouldn't drink period.

  5. The laws in general say that liquor is prohibited on school property.

They do not say that it is prohibited only during the day, only when school is in session, only people of certain ages or status like students faculty etc.

Let's suppose you are an after-school extra curricular group, or some educational organization renting space to hold an event at the school.  Typically when the organization signs paperwork granting permission to use school property for the meetings, part of the contract is an understanding of the rules, which include no alcohol for anyone at that event, regardless of age or school affiilaition.

Prohibited for all people at all times, inside the campus.

Sometimes these rules are those of the school institution, rather than city or county ordinance, in which case the school authorities would have the right to have the police forceably remove the perpetrators for breaking the rules, where the crime you have committed is somewhat less than if you had violated a government ordinance.

The seriousness of this is comparable to drinking and driving.

It is legal to be on school property.

It is legal to drive on the highways.

It is legal to indulge in alcoholic beverages.

It is not legal to have certain combinations of these activities.

Drinking and driving can cause an accident which cost lives.  There has been an epidemic here where harsh penalties needed to stem the death rate.

Drinking on campus can lead to the ruination of many young lives.  There is an epidemic here, where harsh penalties being used to try to stem the death rate.

Society considers both of these areas to be equivalent crimes in seriousness.

  6. Yes.  It's called drinking in public or drinking in a school zone.  Take your pick.

  7. yes!! because you on school property but if the cops don't catch you then no!

  8. Yes.  Public intoxication, Disturbing the Peace, Disordely conduct, Tresspassing on private property, possession of an open container in public (some states).

EDIT: Well now that you are 17...Add these to the above charges.  Minor in possession of alcohol.  If with other minors around you could also get hit with Contributing to the delinqunecy of a minor (1 count for each minor there).   Yes you will go to jail, and quite possibly get charged as an adult since you are 17.   Not a smart idea.

  9. Ah yes...

Drunk in Public / Public Intoxication....Open Liquor bottle...

Not to mention, are you above the age of 21?

If below 21 and above 18, that could be no fun ;)....

if below 18, could still be no fun, but possibly not as severe...

depends on the state though...and also, the arresting officer....i've been caught numerous times as a teen...took a few cool cops to think i was the king of the city, then one mean cop who kind of wanted to keep me from drinking the rest of my life....

  10. Yes

  11. Yes, on many different charges!

  12. Yes...and a minor cannot drink makes it worse
