Can TPS and free caller display be used on virgin media?

i am having trouble with caller display on virgin media. they keep telling me its on. but its not working. i have a caller display phone which displays numbers on bt. if i get tps switched on will caller display be free on virgin media

Unfortunately, because of the way Virgin Media has come about, it is hard to give a clear answer.

Caller ID is only available on some VM exchanges. All former Telewest networks offer the service, but only some of the former NTL group networks do.

Yes TPS can be used on any landline number (mobiles too) also you have to have the caller display service enabled by NTL/Telewest/Virgin, i used to have it and they charge per month for it, they state that you have to use a cable phone service caller ID phone, but i had a standard BT phone and it worked fine. if you got to BT and ask for privacy, i got it free, as my phone is Caller ID enabled.!
