Question:

Can Target employees use their discount to buy things for other people/family? Or only for themselves?

I was told by someone that as a target employee you can only use your discount to buy things for your self only and you will get fired if you use it buy items for family members

If my memory serves from the (awful) years that I worked there, the employee handbook states that the employee discount can only be used for the employee.  That being said, I have never heard of anyone getting fired for purchasing gifts for their friends and family (Target really doesn't want to lose their employees' shopping dollars to Wal-mart during the Christmas shopping season).  The main thing is just that the employee is making the purchase and that he/she is not being reimbursed for that purchase.  Just who is going to tell them who the purchase is for, anyway?  While I wouldn't put it past Target Corporation (I have evidence of their non-compliance with Michigan law), they do not have the right to monitor what you do within your residence with your legally purchased merchandise.
