Can Team Mates Communicate Through The Radio?

I thought the only guys you could talk to on your radio were your crew cheif, spotter and pit crew. Are you allowed to set things up and talk to your team mate as well?

  1. Yes sir. For example, at a (then) Busch series race under caution, Dale Jr. and  Martin Truex Jr. were chatting on the radio about race strategy. Dale said something about a video game, and Truex knew right what he was talking about. They used that strategy, and I think one of them wound up winning the race.


  2. They do have a separate car to car channel for teammates to communicate.

    Have you ever watched a race?  How can you ask this question and think you are a fan?

  8. No, Nascar teammates are unable to talk to each other on their walkie talkies. They pretty much know to just give a bump draft to take one of them to the winners circle.

    If a driver wants to communicate with another driver not on their team, they usually talk to their spotter, who in turn talks to the other driver's spotter.

  11. Yep. For about 4 or 5 years HMS has had it where the drivers could talk directly to each other. Now I think all multicar teams have that ability.

  13. Yes, they can, the crew chief/driver/spotter channel is different from the team chnnel for the drivers.

  14. Yes. I think not all teams do it, though, since alot of times they convey messages to each other through their spotters.
