Can Termites Smell things?

Question

I Had A Science experiment where i would draw a circle using a red paper-mate marker. The Termites followed the red circle mark and they would walk in the circular path. I Noticed that the termites are blind. Did they follow the red marker because they could smell the marker? or what was the reason? pls help.

Yes termites can smell, ants and many insects have a very very strong sense of smell.
