Can Terrapins really recognize its owner?

I have 2 red ear terrapins for almost 6 years, I let them roam the house freely when its feeding time they'll just appear.

One of the terrapin has never in 6 years went to the wrong person it always comes to me, if i'm lying on the floor it will climb onto me rest on my chest and stretch its neck fully n rest it on my chin haha, how cute. It also likes to smell my nose lol.

But this is so strange, i mean can it really recognize its owner? It has never gone to my sis, my bro or my dad, not even once in the past 6 years!

Certainly. Nearly all animals will learn to recognize the person who looks after them, whether by sight, smell, sound or some other way.
