Can Tiger Woods regain his form and perform well at the Masters? – Golf Feature
The 14-time major winner, Tiger Woods, has recently confirmed to recover from the Achilles tendon injury and make his participation in the Masters Tournament schedule three weeks from now.
However, the question still remains the same, will Woods succeed in registering his 15th major title win of the career?
The first and foremost requirement to register a good score in an event is to be in a good form or completely fit to register a stunner.
However, both the things are missing in Woods’ case. He has been continuously making the news for the last three to four years because of his injury issues.
Moreover, his two-year winless streak on the PGA Tour is another concern that makes him feel worried about the Masters.
Even though, Woods won the Chevron World Challenge at the end of the 2011 golf season, it was not a great victory to consider, as there were only 17 other players who contended against him.
Moreover, the event was not sanctioned by any of the professional tours.
Therefore, he yet has to open his account on the PGA and European Tour since his last victory came in the JBWere Masters in November, 2009.
In addition to that, his last victory in any of the major events came in the 2008 US Open.
This is not the first time that a winless season came in Woods’ career. However, it never stretched to two or more years as it happened this time.
Previously, Woods never went winless for more than 12 months throughout his career.
Many golf experts believe that Woods’ career has come to its end and Woods should seriously consider retiring from the game.
Woods is no doubt still at an age when players can register several wins. However, his injury issues have continuously affected his schedule on the golf tours.
Inconsistent schedule on a golf tour makes a player inconsistent in his performances and, in turn, adversely affects his form and control over the game.
Something similar can happen to Woods as he had been playing really well for the past four months.
He registered several top-five finishes and gave the hint of his comeback to the sport of golf.
When the time came to prove his mantle again, he suffered another injury during the 2012 Cadillac Championship that almost sidelined him from playing the Masters this year, which has never happened in his career.
In the recent past, Tiger Woods astounded his opponents in the final round of the Honda Classic when he fired a bogey-free eight-under par to challenge Rory McIlroy on top of the leaderboard.
McIlroy, however, managed to win the tournament. Yet, he was, at one time, taken aback by the stunning display of the birdie and eagle putts by Woods.
Woods, at that moment of time, said that he has fully recovered his putting technique and feels confident to break his winless streak soon.
Moreover, he also aimed to win the masters for the fifth time in his career. Contrarily, the current injury issue will surely cause him trouble to play at his best.
In fact, it may even force him to make the same mistakes that have caused his long-lasting winning drought.
By and large, there are very little chances of Woods to return back to his form till the start of the Masters and perform like the days he ruled the world of golf.
