Can Tiger Woods win his 15th major this year?
Tiger Woods suffered an injury during the Cadillac Championship, leaving his fans in sorrow for not playing the golf tournaments in the current month.
However, it is expected that he will be returning to the Arnold Palmer Invitational, a final tune-up match before the Masters Tournament, but can he record his 15th major win this year?
The 36-year-old American professional golf player is the most famous worldwide. He is the hottest for every golf fan and sport loving personalities.
The reason is not so difficult to comprehend. He is a 14-time major winner and is planning to break Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 major wins.
These days, Woods is suffering from an Achilles Heel injury, which he suffered during his game-play at the TPC Blue Monster at Doral Miami in Florida.
He is resting now and is on a lay-off period. His injury is serious and may affect his performance like it did in the past.
It was 2009 when he had suffered a knee injury. After the recovery, he was unable to play well on the courses and faced a tough time period.
The injury affected his swing, putting, driving distance and accuracy. He dropped to the 50th in the world rankings and was uncompetitive against the others.
Now the history is being repeated again and it is highly possible that sufferings from Achilles Heel injury may become a hurdle between him and his game.
However, the former world no. 1 and current no. 18 is confident to display some amazing performances in the coming weeks.
He has plans to be in the field of the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard, scheduled from March 22 to 25, 2012.
“Got good news from doc tonight. Only mild strain of left Achilles,” Woods posted on Twitter. “Can resume hitting balls late in week and hopeful for next week”.
His doctors and physicians are working hard for him and he is recovering at a faster pace. He is confident and willing to play the PGA-staged event at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando in Florida.
Hence, he has ample time to practise and boost his performance for the Masters. It can be an uphill task for him due to the injury and the difficult times that he is encountering.
Since November 15, 2009, the world greatest player has not won any official event. He last recorded his professional win at the Australian Masters and since then, he is surrounded by issues, scandals and injuries.
He is improving this year and has displayed amazing performances since January, 2012. He played many tournaments in the current season and recorded impressive finishes in some.
He also improved his ranking to the 18th in the current month and was one of the toughest rivals in the field of hundreds.
He was on an improving trend, but suddenly faced an injury in Doral Miami. However, the 14-time major champion has ample opportunities to win another major this year.
The reason is his improved swing, putting and driving. However, he needs to tune up and practise before the mega event in April.
The field of the Masters Tournament is incomplete without Woods. He has to make it to the first major of the current year.
Not only his presence is required, but on the other hand, all the golf players, spectators and his fans are demanding that he display a tremendous performance as well.
Hence, Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard is the only hope for him to practise. In my opinion, he will be leading at the Bay Hill Club and will also show a good performance at the Masters.
