Can UPS come earlier? Tracking not updated for 4 days!?!?

Question

I bought something online and it was shipped with UPS Ground.

It says:

"Your package is on time with a scheduled delivery date of 07/11/2008."

Can this come any earlier then that date?

Also my tracking information has not been updated for 4 days!)

The last update was July 4th, why is this!?

I had one or two packages come A day early from UPS, but in general no.

And its not updated because it is a ground delivery so its being trucked across the country to you. Tracking info thats updated everyday or multiple times a day is usually when its shipped by air, or ground delivery between short distances(to hubs).

Realize, if it was updated July 4th, the billing info to UPS was probably sent then, then as the 4th was a holiday, it was probably picked up on the 7th as that was the next business day (pretty sure UPS doesn't pick up on sat, special sat delivery yes, picks up, don't think so). So its really going to take about 4 days 7-11th to ground ship it to you. That is not bad really.

I've ordered lots of stuff shipped UPS. Like, hundreds of packages over the years. None have ever come earlier than the scheduled date. A few have come later but would have "exception" on the tracking page with a reason for the delay--like being misrouted or bad weather. Don't worry about it not being updated. It happens. It doesn't mean it's lost or delayed. Could be bad scanning behavior or miscommunication in their system of something like that.

I disagree with evileye on why its not being updated. All of my shipments are ground. I order from the same retailers time and time again. Most of the time I will get decent updating. Not daily, but usually not 6 days of no update like this case. Not including the weekend and holiday, Mon-Thurs is a long time for no update. Once in a while I will experience like you and not get updated for days but this isn't really normal. Rarely but has happened before I never got past "info sent" notification. It just got delivered with no tracking at all. Who knows why they don't update from time to time.
