Can Valtteri Bottas secure a race seat in Williams in 2013? - Formula 1
Williams’ reserve driver, Valtteri Bottas has impressed everyone with his amazing performance in the Young Driver Test and he surely deserves a race seat in his team in 2013.
Bottas has replaced Bruno Senna of the Grove based team in many free practice sessions in the current season so far and has performed quite convincingly. Moreover, he has expressed that he is completely ready for a race seat in the coming year and is earnestly
looking forward to secure one in the British squad.
Toto Wolff, the executive director of Williams has always seemed very much influenced by the performance of the Finnish driver in the season until now and has asserted that he has got some amazing talent with which he can surely become a good racing driver
in the future.
Furthermore, he said that their next year’s driver line-up is still open and signaled that they may replace one of their current drivers, Senna or Pastor Maldonado who have struggled in most of the races until now, with the Finn in the coming season.
"I think Valtteri is going to end up in Formula One, that's for sure, and I think the question is are we going to have him in one of our cars or somebody else going to sneak him up," he told ESPNF1. "This is a decision we have to make together in the next
couple of weeks or months and decide which direction the team is going to head in; are we continuing with the current drivers or are we going to change one of them or two of them? So it's all open at this stage."
However, Wolff also said that he may step back from the talks about their future driver line-up because of the conflict of interests. Nonetheless, he said that Bottas has got a remarkable talent and will certainly make his way into the sport sooner or later.
Even though, it seems quite difficult for the 23-year-old to secure a race seat in the next season, nevertheless, he is still feeling optimistic for his future in F1.
It will be interesting to see that whether he will able to secure a race seat in Williams or any other team in the coming year or not.
