What I mean is, in the last 7 years Venus has only been able to win at Wimbledon (5 times-amazing), but why has she declined on other surfaces ?

  1. do i think venus can win another slam that is not wimbledon... no i honestly do not.... Venus may have the most powerfull and greatest serve, great footwork and powerful ground strokes, but she always strike the bad fortune of  running into a very  "hot" or determined player on anyother surface that is not grass... she does not have enough consistency or full heart to win a tight match ... because venus is outside of her peak, not at her most domiant leveal.. she will not have wins on anything but her absolute best surface.. because the filed is very competive and determined now.

the main reason Venus thrives on grass so well, is because the rest of the tour is not as confident or apt to have a great grass game. its a surface that can cause alot of problems for players.... Venus's style of play is heavely made for grass and thats where she comes to life...

but Venus did make the semifinal of the US OPEN last year.... she lost to Justine henin, and i beleive she more then likely would have gone to the final had she not run into Justine henin...

  2. Isn't a slam all four majors?

  3. I DON'T think she will. Her best chance probably is the US Open. She hasn't done well in Melbourne(her results the past 2 years isn't good). Clay is not her best surface. So yes, she will probably be stuck with Wimbledon. It's still great though. As with Serena, she hasn't won a slam outside Australia as well...

  4. Venus has played at other Slams, but she lost. And she also has had injury outs as well. Yes, she can win other Slams.  Justine was winning many Slams, and domineering before she retired earlier this year. Now Justine gone, women's road is wide open and the points are very close to each other from # 1 to # 10. Venus seems to be in good shape to win the Us Open 2008, perhaps.

  5. she can win lots of them

  6. I think not. The truth is she loves Wimbledon so much but isn't as committed to tennis as she was. She has her own clothes label and everything and I think she thinks of that as her profession and tennis as a hobby rather than the other way around. But still she loves Wimbledon and I can see her winning maybe another one before she retires.

  7. Yes. Venus still has one of the best games on tour. She's the best mover, has the fastest first serves, the most intimidating net presence, smartest returns, and one of the strongest ground games. With her game alone she could be a contender in any of the other 3 slams.

With Venus it's really more an issue of desire. The majority of matches that I've seen her lose have been because of lackluster footwork and unforced errors.

If Venus wants to win one of the other slams she has to put in the effort. If she does, she still has a solid game so there's no reason why it can't happen.

  8. she can.  shes reached the final of all of them.  she was just unlucky that she had to face serena in all of them.

  9. Yes and she WILL win the US Open!
