We have a small childrens shelter in Ukraine where we raise small Vietnamese pigs and chickens. They are in the same pen and the chickens are not doing well. Is there a problem housing the two animals in the same pen. We have rabbits in the same pen as well.

  1. well if you seperate the chickens then everyone should do well but your pigs will bully everyone so it probably best to seperate all of the species. The chickens p**p can sicken if not kill your other animals because of their bacteria

  2. Yes, they certainly can be housed together....your pigs will find the chickens and rabbits to be quiet delicious!

However if you want to have producing rabbits and chickens, you definatly need to separate them.  It would actually be better to have separate housing for all three types of animals.

The chickens and rabbits can be housed together...but it takes a lot of work.  Chickens make a lot of dust.  Rabbits are quiet prone to pnuemonia...the dust from the chickens would make it worse.

  3. No, they should be separated, that's why your chickens are doing poorly.

Chickens need grit to aid digestion, they are constantly ingesting dirt, digging holes and, in the process, eating the f***s of the pigs, that's what's making them sick.  This kind of practice can lead to disease processes that can get out of control.

Rabbits don't nibble on dirt, they are less likely to be affected.

  4. Pigs and chickens shouldn't be together for the simple fact that they carry incompatible diseases.

Sounds strange, I know.  But, while pigs don't suffer unduly from botulism and salmonella, chickens DO.

So, having the two together is unhealthy.

  5. no

  6. OMG!Seperate them immediately!

Rabbits & chickens need dryer conditions than pigs,& pigs will eat anything! Even other animals!
