Can WM6 from a Samsung SCH-i760 be configured for free tethering?

Question

A friend currently has a blackjack II (W/data plan of course!) & is able to tether with a patch found on the web to re-install the removed "internet sharing" feature and not pay the extra tethering capabilities. Can the same be done to the Samsung SCH-i760? I hear of ICSinstall which is a method through wifi, but found out they are charging for their services now? The objective is to get internet going on PC with use of mobile handset.
