  1. You can become a pro boxer without amatauer expirance, but some amatauer expirance is advisable.

However, a lot of amatauar boxing expirance does not automatically mean you are going to be a good or even decent pro. The difference between the two is vastly different even more so now. Why it's hit and miss as for as Olympic medalist gaining success in the pros.

Amatauer fighters fight in a textbook fashion where goal is to score points.

Pro fightes fight in all different styles and goal is more to inflick most damage.

The disadvantage is, amatauer fighters are use to fighting oppoents with a similar or same fundamental style, so unorthodox fighters  or unpredictable brawlers will give them problems.

Also amatauer fighters are predictable for other opponents, because it is so textbook, and oppoents can figure out their timing and moves ahead of time.

  2. i believe that julio cesar chavez jr had little or no amateur background to speak of, which is why he is being moved so slowly through the pro ranks.

and i pick cotto in a tough, hard fight,

  3. Yes if you like getting concussions and being knocked out. Your hospital bill would be more then how much you got paid for the fight.

  4. Yes, you can be a professional without an amateur background.

As for Cotto-Margarito prediction, I'm going to wait another couple of weeks before I go into detail reasoning of my pick, since I'm not quite sure who I'm going with. I will go on record and say that I would not be one bit surprised if Cotto suffers his first defeat.

  5. You can become a professional without a Amateur background. However the amamteurs is where you get experince from that how you learn certain styles and moves that will eventually help you as a professinal. The amateur fights are so safe that if your hurt the fight will be stopped immedeatly. Professional boxings isnt so safe if you get cracked as a pro with no head gear you can get seriously hurt you dont want to be a guy that has to learn how to fight as a pro learn as a amateur when the system is much safer. If you look at the best guy in every weight divison they all had great amateur backgrounds.

    Floyd Mayweather Olympic Medal

David Haye National Amateur Champion and Medal Winner

Kelly Pavilk almost made the Oympics

you cant really be a good pro without a decent amateur background.

I am picking Margarito becasue Cotto cant hurt him and thats always been Cottos biggest factor he was the bigger puncher but he cant hurt Toney how is going to beat him. Not boxing. Margarito late stoppage

  6. yeah you can but its not a good idea if you have no amateur experience.

  7. yes but it is not advisable. better to get the experience from amateur fighting which will be useful for pro-boxing.

as for your second question I don't have a pick for that fight. I expect it to be a real battle as both are amazing fighters. I am very excited about it.

  8. yes why not. but be ready to get your $%^ kick several times.

just look at the chavez brothers. they are not doing that good because of no amateur experience.
