Question:

Can You Give me Advice in Buying a .22LR Rifle in Canada Ontario Windsor-Essex Area!?

I'm getting my license and I am looking to buy a new 22lr rifle. I want a good, accurate, respectable rifle for about 300-600max dollars that will last me a long time and shoot great out of the box.

I am a lefty, although I have decent control with my right hand. I want a bolt-action repeater, even though a pump or lever would be more ambidextrous (I personally prefer the bolt). I might just settle with a righty version or may look into a left version if available.

I've been looking online but most sites are US and I don't find much Canadian sites. And i don't know whats available in Canada, at what price.

So far the Ive heard of Savage, Ruger, Anschutz (probably too expensive), CZ.

Does anyone have any advice besides just to say go to General Gun? I've heard that they are a pretty crappy place to deal with, although they didnt seem too, too bad. Where and how else can buy a rifle?

Any advice and personal experience will be appreciated! Thanks

  1. #1  Stay away from the Rugers.

#2  CZ is close to the bottom of your price range, leaving you money for a good scope.

#3  CZ makes a bolt action just for southpaws.

  2. Of the ones you mention, the Anschutz is one of the best bolt action  clip feed sporters around & probably within upper limits of your price range, (even a lefty ) w/  maybe a little room for a decent scope & mounts.

Have one & love it ( actually my wifes) very classy for a ..22 & extremely  accurate.

If you do not mind a lever action , the Marlin M 39 /39A is another very  sweet shooter & also within your  price limit.

Might also look into Remington & Winchester

Would go directly to a makers sites & see who has / can get what you want in your area & shop around.

Might be easier & less red tape than goung to a US supplier.

    Best regards

  3. Hi there! I have a savage 22lr since about may 2008 and i like it. Check out the manufacters online and see if a local gun shop has the one you want. Go to savagearms, remington, and marlin and whatever other brands you want, usally they will have a price tag which is a little less than what we can get them for since we live in Canada. My 22 was $230 brandnew at a place in waterloo, good luck!
