I am getting married in a few months and really like these invitations at: http://www.renaissancewritings.com/galle...

I just want to know how to make them myself without spending $8 an invitation. If you have ideas or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it! Oh I am sorry if the link above doesn't work! I hope this one does... http://www.renaissancewritings.com/invit...

Thanks for your help!

  1. Both your links don't work sorry.

  2. Those are very pretty invites, however they will be a challenge to make on your own. While its not impossible, it will be very difficult.

First, you should order a sample of the design you want. You will use the sample to measure and cut the pieces for all your invites.

I've received invites from people who try to do similar ones like you want. Most of the time, they do look 'home-made' and not professionally done. Here's why: Unless you are an avid scrapbooker, its hard to cut exact squares and center everything perfectly. Also, the invites I've received have fallen apart before the wedding because they were not glued together well enough. The other difficulty will be in folding the envelopes. Scoring card stock well takes some practice.

I've not discouraging you from having these invites, but you should know how much work is going to be involved. What I suggest is getting the sample and go to a scrapbook store (or a craft store if there are no scrapbook stores around) and ask them for help and advice on how to make them. Also price out the materials (there will be a lot of card stock needed). You might find that buying all the materials and what your time is worth is more expensive than what the website is charging. Don't forget that you need a nice printer and lots of ink. Also, not all printers print on card stock very well.

  3. Go to www.mygatsby.com they have these invites in easy and affordable do-it-yourself kits...you can pick the colours you want and you can have them print them for you and you just assemble them or they can send you the pieces which you assemble and can print yourself. Its the easiest by far.

  4. The 1st link isn't working :(

    Sites like Geographic http://www.geographics.com/Wedding-Stati...

Have beautiful design paper you can do it yourself from home, is affordable and can look pretty neat.

All the best in the future, many happiness.

  5. I think you can do it!

You need to invest in a good paper cutter/slicer with measurements, this ensures straight and unfrayed lines.

You would be better off purchasing A3 sized card to make the outer envelope. This will give you 2 invites per card.

All the equipment you need is available at your local craft supply store (in Aus Lincraft or spotlight)

    Good Luck

  6. there is a good website for invitations at http://www.eventphotocards.com
