wouldn't really call them role models since they both did get pregnant at a very young age.  I mean i did to but i wouldn't call my self a role model because me being 18 didn't really think anything can happen to me ...anyway no i wouldn't call them role models at all. I think its great that she intends on keeping this child, whether she marries the father or not is up to her. I can't count the number of people I've known that have gone through this very thing with their own child. I find it sad that some people will try to use this as something political.

I don't think she should get married, if the only reason she is doing it is because she is pregnant. It does not change my opinion about her mother, or her. This is real life people and these things happen. I will still be voting for John McCain, and he will still win. He's already won, everything else is just a formality.

Actually I agree. It's really not the smartest thing, and it didn't make her look any more responsible. Just because he got you pregnant, especially that young, doesn't mean a marriage will work. If anything it's a kiss of death. It's too late to change the past, but she could at the very least wait a few years and see if things work out. Sure, there are advantages for children born to married parents, but not if they really shouldn't have been married in the first place. I got pregnant at that age too, and I couldn't be more glad I didn't marry the father.

At any rate, I hope this guy is better than Mr. serial cheater Casey Aldridge. Not to put a damper on Jamie Lynn's hopes and dreams, but I think her marriage is doomed before it begins....

That would depend on the father.

If the father is a good guy who wants to be responsible, I absolutely applaud the choice.

If the father is a loser who is only doing it because he's being forced to do so or whatever, marrying the father would only complicate matters even further for the child.

Yes, she should have waited.  But that is the past.  It would do her no good to marry the guy if he is a loser; I'm sure there could and would be other guys who are better and would just as readily love both Palin's daughter and the child.

So if she had come to me for advice, I would only suggest marrying him if he was a good guy.  I would not applaud the decision if he were a loser.

Can't do that considering I do  not know the situation.

My personal views are that a 17 yr old should be discouraged from marrying the father of her child until she is over 18 or so.

My 16 yr old cousin married the guy who got her pregnant & it was a catastophy to say the least.

Maybe the father is an immature 17yr old - Maybe he is 18 months older than she is & already startign college.

Maybe they were dating for years - maybe it was a one night stand.

But I will not assume anything because I do not know the family.
