  1. Now, you should be ok with a driver's license.

Starting June 1, 2009, Canadian citizens will be required to present a valid passport, a NEXUS card, or other acceptable document when seeking to enter the United States. Canadian citizens 15 years of age and under will only require proof of citizenship. Canadian citizens 18 years of age and under who are travelling with a school or other organized group, under adult supervision with parental/guardian consent, may also present proof of citizenship alone.

  2. NO- It should not be OK.

    - You should carry a proof of your Canadian Citizebship / Residency.

    Note:

    - An immigrant who is not PR to Canada, can also have Canada Driving License. On this he can not enter US as he is not a permenant resident of Canada.

    Hope this makes clear.
