  1. I read this book to my 3 year old daughter every single night, and my mom read it to me.  My infant daughter has a T-shirt that says "and he was still hungry" with a picture of an apple, pear, etc.  It is nice to know that the classics are still alive and still a part our lives


  2. it was just one of those books you could read many times as if you didn't know what was going to happen - was he gonna be hungry, wasn't he gonna be hungry

  5. Funny you should ask that today. The younger children in school have just made a display based on it. I was putting it up on the wall only today.

  6. yes- i read it to my son when he was 6 months old- he soon destroyed the book but is now fascinated by watching himself on video  when he was little. he has relearn the book through watching the video   of him and myself together.

    my favourite line was" and that night he had a TUMMYACHE!!!!

    i would always tickle his tummy at that point.

  9. Still a favourite in pre schools today : a classic, the author is Eric Carle, Google him and you aill be able to see his other stuff all fab, great one about the ladybird!!!

  10. Yep, it was my favourite book when I was in primary school. I'm now 35 and my children have a copy of it now, a board book version with a soft caterpillar toy.

Yeah we read it a lot at preschool...although the new favourite is "Tweenies-Dotman to The Rescue" They love seeing the colours coming back to black and white pictures-its kinda like how bad magicians do their trick where the picture slides out and is 'mysterious' coloured in then when pushed back into the page is colourless! But the kids find it fascinating.

    Also they love Going On A Bear Hunt I know it off by heart :)

  13. Yes! There is Hungry Caterpillar china as well. Either Portmeirion or Royal Doulton, I can't remember. It's designed for kids and it looks great.

  15. I love that book! It wa so cute I mean the catapilar was stil hungry after he had ate a whole lot of food, and have you read the grouchy lady bug it's geat!

  16. Both books are still read to primary school children.

    Classic books like these will always be popular.
