Question:

Can You Reverse The Effects of Wearing Contact Lenses Too Long?

I've worn my Contact Lenses for a week-without cleaning. I've slept in them as well. I've heard it can be very detrimental to your eye health and can cause the veins in the eye to constrict, not to mention scarring of the eye.

I was wondering if there are any solutions or something that could be done to reverse the effects of this. Obvioiusly, take out the contacts and clean them EVERYDAY. Suggestions??

  1. Stop wearing contace for about one weeks. It might help.

  2. You can reverse it somewhat by leaving your contacts out for a week or so and also by taking them out daily and cleaning/soaking them.  Your eyes need oxygen and if you leave your contacts in too long they can't 'breathe' and you can end up with nice things like an ulcerated cornea.  I had that condition because I kept my lenses in too long.  Not pleasant and the best case scenario is that your eyes become sensitive to sunlight.  Worst case is that you can completely ruin your eyesight and possibly become blind.

  3. I suggest allowing your eyes some time to heal and taking a break from wearing your contacts for a few days.  There is no quick fix for this and you just have to allow your eyes some heal time.

I wear contacts too and will give my eyes a rest day each week where I will wear my glasses as needed.  This may help you as well.
