Can You Start A Fire With Lava Rocks?

i want to know if you can start a fire with lava rocks. i want to use it instead of wood in my firepit. do you have to put keroscene or oil on it? and will the fire look like a wood fire?

Just pour the kerosene or oil on the ground and light it. The lava rocks do not burn since they are from the burnt remains of a volcano. Why not just burn wood?

on our camping trip to glacier national park MT we used lava rocks and wood , wood gets the fire started and lava keeps it burning for a long time and it was cold up there and i also suggest in your pation you do the same we did the same in our patio we  yoused wood and lava because lava dosen't start the fire and wood burns quickly so both are needed but if you do reallly want to youse lava rocks youse the kerosence oil to start the flame but it wouldn't look like a wood fire only like a lava fire which is pretty cool but not outstanding like a wood fire ! well good luck !
