My dog dug up 2 small areas of the carpet and I need to fix it fast but, make it look like it has not been replaced. Does anyone know how to or where I can find the instructions to do it myself? She also messed up the floor in the bathroom so I need help with that too, lol Thanks.

  1. FIRST BLOCK THE AREA, AND CUT OUT

THEN CUT THE EXACT SIZE TO MATCH THAT WITH THE NEW CARPET. USE THE ONE YOUU JUST CUT OUT AS A TEMPLATE.

YOU MAY HAVE TO WASH AND SCRUB  THE NEW PIECES TO TONE IT DOWN. THEN ADHERE WITH RUG ADHESIVE. SAME IN THE BATHROOM.  USE A SQUARE TO CUT STRAIGHT.

    GOOD LUCK..MM

  2. There was a show on discovery about folks with interesting houses. One artist has a patchwork carpet. Any time there is a spill a geometric shaped section is cu-out and any old piece of carpet goes in the spot.

There is carpet glue and tape but consider that the best installers sew "rooms" together. The easiest route would be carpet tape. Add sewing the patch in for best results using a curved carpet needle and carpet thread. Make sure to match the pile direction when cutting the patch from the old piece.

  3. for the carpet you will need to cut a piece out in an area where it's not noticeable ,like behind a piece of furniture or in a corner that is hidden , you cut a square out of the size that you need do the same in the spot that your dogs is ruined , get some 2 way carpet tape  and replace the piece . For the bathroom I have no idea what kind of a mess it is if you could explain it better perhaps I would be able to help .

  4. First here is a link http://www.doityourself.com/stry/patchin...

We repair carpet all the time and it is part art and a lot of Patience.  You need scrap carpet.  A Straight Edge.  A carpet Knife (Home Depot)  Roberts carpet glue and seam tape.  If the carpet is thick you have a better chance to not have the seams show.   It is important the nap is running the same direction or you can see the patch.  We use a pencil and paper.  Place the paper on top of the carpet and pencil on top of the paper. Run your hand back and forth over the pencil and the paper will move.  This is the direction the nap is running..  On you scrap you want to do the same thing and mark on the back the  direction the nap is running.  CUT Carefully and exactly.  IMPORTANT. After you make your cuts dry fit and adjust till it looks great.  Next  Use the roberts glue to seal the edges on both the carpet and the scrap edges and let it dry.  Otherwise it will fray.  Place seam tape on the edges of the carpeting and place the scrap on it.  Use a shoe brush to adjust and clean the nap.  Trim any loose fibers.

NOTE if you use new scrap carpet you will notice the patch.

  5. Unfortunately you cannot replace just one section of carpet. Carpet is only connected to the floor around the edges so there is no way to secure just a portion to the floor in the middle of the room. The threading will also be off so even if you get it down it will look like it has been replaced and look very bad.You can also expect the edges to fray easily if you try it.
