Can You shoot A mountain lion in PA if you see one?

Me and my friends are going up around Brockway and Dubois to hunt for coyotes And well we have reasons to believe that there is a mountain lion roaming around in the area we are hunting and i was wondering if we where able to shoot a cougar if it came at us while hunting at night?

god shoot it with a camera my dad always said if you cant eat it don't shoot it unless its vermin

Yeah, if it was attacking you.

Mountain lions are a protected species, and to shoot one you would have to be able to prove that it was in self defence, or you would be in big trouble.

only if it starts to run  at you, because i had the same problem a few years back and i also live in PA, but what i love is when the PGC says that --->The last known Pennsylvania native mountain lion was killed in Berks County in 1874<------ LOL well no **** take them off the protected list once

No , and if there is one, there has be two or more of them in the area.* They are Protected in Pennsylvania even though some people say they don't even exist here any more.* I saw one drinking from a stream in the early 1960's in Brookville Pa which isn't that far away from Dubois & Brockway.* At the time I could have shot it with my 30-06 with a scope, but I choose not to. It was less than 100 yards away from me when I saw it.* It was definitely a Mountain lion and not a Bobcat.*
