  1. Hello,

You can wear jeans if you like.  Are you visiting the museums or the basilica?  In the basilica, and all churches in Rome for that matter, you are required to cover your knees and shoulders.  Men must wear pants but there is no specific on what type of pants, ie- slacks, cargos or jeans.  In the museums you can also wear jeans if you like. It is a matter of respect that they ask you to cover yourself up when entering a holy site.  If you dressing inappropriately they will ask you to cover up or make you leave.  You might want to find those pants that convert to shorts with the zip off legs.  This way you will be comfortable outside and not limited to the sites you can visit.

  2. You'll be ok with jeans, but not shorts. They have to be ankle lenght.

  3. No, boys & men must wear dress slacks and long sleeve shirts; girls & women are incouraged to wear skirts <must be below the knee> and blouses that cover their shoulders. but women/ girls are allowed to wear slacks also <NO JEANS> we watched another group have some of their members refused entry for wearing jeans and tank tops.

  4. when i was their i wasn't allowed to go in. they have like guards at the doorway thing and they have metal detectors and tell you if you can or can not enter.

  5. yes, of course. Not because I wear jeans ALL THE TIME but also because I live in Rome and here ( http://www.siteseeings.com/tour_92.html  ) I can read

"No Shorts, No Sleeveless Outfits Permitted "

so, nothing wrong with jeans ( unless they are like some type of D&G....)

    :)

Jeans are commonly used by the Italian people: you'll feel like one of us!

  6. "You'll need to be wearing clothes that do not leave your shoulders/arms or lower legs bare. No shorts, short trousers, short skirts, sleeveless shirts or bare shoulders. All visitors to the Vatican Museums will be required to pass through a metal-detector prior to being granted admittance. Wheelchairs are available onsite and do not need to be reserved."

that is what it said on http://www.tickitaly.com/tickets/vatican...

    i hope this helps you.

  7. I wore jeans and a t-shirt when I went.
