  2. Well, in a roundabout way, yes.

Creditors can try to collect on a debt forever.  Although, you have an advantage over them if the statute of limitations has run. The SOL is how long a creditor has to seek legal remedy.

That doesn't mean they can't sue, it just means you'd have a legal defense against them.  However, if you don't answer the court and submit this defense, the creditor can legally get a judgment and garnish you wages.

  3. Pay your debts and you will never have to answer that question.

  4. The first poster really didn't answer your question. The real answer is a debt can, depending on what kind of debt it is, and in some cases where you live can be taken held against you. The best example of this is student loan debt. Student loans can not be discharged in bankruptcy, and is one of the only debts that has no time limit in order to get repaid, and in some cases can be enforced legally through garnishement, liens and levys.

  5. Not enough information.

Only a court order can seize wages.  If they haven't sued you by now, they probably can't.

If, however, they sued you and got a judgment in the past, these don't go away, so the answer is yes.
