I've always been afraid of my daughter overheating at night while sleeping. Now that she is a little older i was wondering do i still have to worry? The colder weather is coming and ive always had 2 recieving blankets on her when going to bed but i want to start giving her a thicker blanket so she doesnt get cold but im still afraid of her over heating..what does your baby sleep with?

  1. My son never liked having socks on his feet. He also liked to move around a lot so a blanket never worked. I put him in long pants and a onzie with long sleeves. He was fine. You can also use thicker pjs.

  2. She can over heat but if you check on her every now and then , in the night, It will be fine.

  3. I have always been told that for smaller babies to put one more layer on them than you would have at night. But for my 12 month old, I give him whatever kind of blanket I am using, that way if I get hot then I will know to check and see if he is hot. Your baby can probably react to being hot by squirming out from under a blanket by now. So just play it by ear. (:

  4. everyone no matter the age can overheat

  5. Yes a 13 month old can overheat, however it is likely that at 13 months she will take the blanket off if she is too hot.

Now if you were to overdress her that would be a bigger concern.

  6. Overheating has been implicated in SIDS. Don't assume that just because she's a baby she needs lots of blankets.

  7. yes

  8. babies can definatly over heat and it is dangerous. if they go over just 1 degree of their usual body temperature they can have febrile convulsions which is like a fit. it shoudnt hurt, but if it happens you should strip them, keep them cool and make sure they dont hurt themselves. if the floor is hard put something flat and soft under their heads. it houldnt last too long so dont panic, just stay it out. call an ambulance to get them checked over.

my baby sister sleeps in a sort of baby sleeping bag with nothing else. this is the ideal coverage for babies as it is safe, they cannot slip under and suffocate, get tangled up and shouldnt over heat.

a thin fleece in winter tucked under their arms should give them some extra warmth.

  9. Anybody can overheat!

Like someone else said, she is at the age where she can take the blanket off if she gets too hot. My daughter, also 13 months, sleeps with me and when she gets too hot she will wake up and try kicking the blanket off of her, although half the time she is kicking me instead. ha.

  10. Everyone at any age could over heat but she's old enough to kick the blankets off if she doesnt want them on. I put 2 baby blankets on my son.
