Can a 13 year old work or volunteer? if so, what can they do?

I was 13 when I joined at the local hospital a group called the "Candy Stripers". They worked in several areas form the gift shop, nursery(cleaning the basinettes), on the floor delivering flowers and mail, and we had a cart with books, games, and magazines to loan. We'd pick them up when through and they'd get something else. There are lots of helpful things to find to do. Also, you might check at a nursing home. Read to them, visit, give a hug, etc.Some never have a visitor. My mother was administrator of a nursing home and on craft day I often helped. It's great that you have such a giving heart.
