  1. The American Red Cross Certification requires that a person be at least 15 years old before beginning the course.  I believe both the Ellis & Associates and the YMCA certifications are the same.  It is perfectly all right to take the classes earlier, but passing them cannot legally gain you a valid certificate.  Great preperation for later training, though, and good skills to learn simply for their own merits.  In the Red Cross program a person younger than 15 can participate upon the approval of the instructor, they simply cannot be granted a certification upon completion.

  2. 15 i think is the required age.... here, at least

  3. To be certified you are supposed to 15. THere's something called a Jr. lifeguard. Which basically is the same things, but you can't guard alone. Or something like that.

  4. tooo young you have to be at least 15

  5. i think it depends on where they are lifeguarding, my friend is 14 and he lifeguards at his neighborhood pool.

  6. If you are certified than you possess the required knowledge to work in that field. My answer is she is not too young. Denying a chance for a minor to be what they want will have some mental impacts on them when they grow up. If she earned it, then she has every right.

  7. YES.

  8. Check your local community pool where you want to lifeguard.  Most are 15 and over.  Some states you have to be 16 but I've known people at 14 who have been lifeguards so just call or have your mom or friend take you by and check on it.  I was 16 when i first was a lifeguard
