Can a 14 yo. be emancipated by the parent??

If you have a 14 yo. child that was taken by the mother at 10 months old and kidnapped to another state for her entire existence and you finally find her after 14 years of searching, and the child does not want to be with you, doesn't recognize you as a father and chooses to stay in another state far away without you, and is a problem child, starting fires doing drugs cutting school and flouting authority, and you do not want to be responsible for what she does as a direct lack of supervision on her mothers part, Can you file paperwork and emancipate her? Please help. Thank You. At severe odds

  1. A child that young cannot be emancipated, but the parent can give up his/her parental rights. In that case the child would enter the foster system.

  3. You get CPS involved and have mom proved to be an unfit parent.  Then file for custody.  Remember, this child has been fed lies about you her whole life, so counseling will be much needed for both of you.

    Edit: A child with problems like this should not be emancipated.  To be emancipated means for the state to recognize them as an adult.  This child needs parents.

  4. Can you give up your responsibilities as a parent?  In general, no.  However, if the child is incorrigible, the state might agree to take temporary custody of the child.

  5. It depends on were you live. In California the child must be 16.
